When Peter and Lotta spend their first Christmas with Aunt Green, Aunt Brown, Aunt Lavender, and Uncle Blue, they are amazed by all the surprises—decorating the Christmas tree, delicious gingerbread, and presents delivered by the Christmas Goat!

Before Christmas comes around again, the children are determined to discover where the presents really come from and give their aunts and uncle special gifts. Then on Christmas Eve, Peter and Lotta's kindness and generosity are rewarded with something unexpected.

This delightful story from the world-renowned Swedish author and illustrator Elsa Beskow celebrates Swedish Christmas traditions and being a good neighbor. Elsa Beskow's Peter and Lotta series, about two orphans and their new family—Aunt Green, Aunt Brown, Aunt Lavender, and Uncle Blue—is full of gentle humor and charm.

This wonderful mini gift edition of Peter and Lotta's Christmas reproduces Elsa Beskow's classic illustrations and beloved story in an adorable small format—ideal for little hands.

Elsa Beskow

Elsa Beskow (1874–1953) was born in Stockholm. Her parents were entrepreneur Bernt Maartman (1841–1889), whose family came from Bergen, Norway, and Augusta Fahlstedt (1850–1915). Beskow studied Art Education at Konstfack, University College of Arts, Crafts and Design, then called Tekniska skolan, or the Technical school, in Stockholm. In 1897, she married former minister and social worker and doctor of theology Natanael Beskow, whom she met while serving as a teacher at Djursholms samskola, where he served as headmaster. They had six sons. Beskow became one of the best known of all Swedish children's book artists. She also illustrated "ABC" books and songbooks for Swedish schools. Her book pages are often framed in a decorative Art Nouveau style. Beskow received international recognition for her simple, cheerful stories and outstanding illustrations.
